This course equips you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to plan and implement quality childcare and educational programs for children from 0-12 years. Students will engage in practical placement in a range of settings with a variety of age groups.

Duration

This course consists of approximately 1,515 hours which is delivered over 18 months of study. It is a combination of on-the-job, self paced learning and off-the-job-training. We will begin a Fast Track Delivery program in April 2012 - where attendance is one day per fortnight and full time during placements, for one year.

There are no prerequisites for entry into this course.

Other course requirements

It is essential that all successful applicants wishing to enrol in the course have a current Police Check (dated no less than 6 months at the time of enrolment) and a current Working With Children Check. These require a minimum fee and should be applied for at a volunteer level. Please allow 4 weeks for processing. Attendance at an Information Session is highly recommended. It is recommended that applicants have completed a minimum of one full day of voluntary attendance at a child care centre.

This course equips you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to plan and implement quality child care and educational programs for children from 0-12 years. A special COAG directed tuition fee exemption is available for Diploma and Advanced Diploma level Children’s Services students in 2011. Students studying Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childhood Education & Care) at Bendigo TAFE in 2011 will pay no tuition fees providing they are eligible for a government subsidised place.
