Types of qualifications offered

All Bendigo TAFE courses are either nationally or state recognised qualifications or a Bendigo TAFE accredited course.  All qualifications or courses requiring Industry Body registration or approval have been approved by the appropriate body.  Bendigo TAFE accredited courses have been designed by Bendigo TAFE to meet specific industry needs.  Bendigo TAFE also offers Short Courses.  Short Courses consist of Bendigo TAFE accredited units.

On successful completion of study at Bendigo TAFE you will either receive a Statement of  Attainment or Certificate of Completion, and on successful completion of all units of study required for a nationally or state recognised qualification, the appropriate Qualification.  Our Course Search tells you the qualification level of each course, for example Certificate III or Diploma. VETiS (VET in Schools) gives you the opportunity to complete industry-focused training as part of your VCE or VCAL programs whilst remaining at your secondary school. Depending on the program your school offers you can earn credits towards a full Certificate II or III qualification. This can give you a great head start towards employment or further education.

Some of the programs offered by Bendigo TAFE include:

In most cases Bendigo TAFE will deliver these courses at your secondary school in partnership with your school.  For specialist areas like Music, Hairdressing, Retail and Beauty or an of the trade area courses you may study in Bendigo TAFE’s state of the art facilities.  Please contact your secondary school provider for further details and enrolment into VETIS courses.

VCAL is a hands-on option for Years 11 and 12 students. It gives you practical work-related experience, as well as literacy and numeracy skills and the opportunity to build personal skills that are important for life and work.  Students who undertake VCAL are likely to be interested in going on to training at TAFE, doing an apprenticeship or getting a job after completing school. VCAL's flexibility lets you undertake a study program that suits your interests and learning needs.

VCAL programs are delivered at Bendigo TAFE through the Bendigo TAFE Youth Pathways programs at our Bendigo City Campus, Echuca, Castlemaine, Kyneton and Maryborough campuses.  For Years 10, 11 and 12 students who are specifically interested in pursuing an apprenticeship or traineeship in a technical trade and still want to complete years 10, 11 and 12, the Bendigo Technical Education College (BTEC) Campus offers both VCAL and VCE.  You can find courses that are delivered at BTEC on this website using the BTEC Location filter on the Advanced Course Search tool or more detailed information about the programs on the BTEC website.

If you start your VCAL and then decide VCE is the right option for you after all, any VCE units you complete as part of your VCAL will count towards your VCE.

Bendigo TAFE also offers VCE to adults 18 years old and over and is one year of full time study or part time equivalent.
