Free TAFE* offerings in agriculture and horticulture provide career  opportunities for individuals within the Food and Fibre sectors which is set to grow as agribusinesses within Victoria prepares to respond and meet the demands for food and fibre production in both local and international markets. 

In Victoria alone, the sector employs over 190,000 people and industry requires all manner of workers ranging from unskilled labour through to highly-qualified and experienced academic researchers. ​


Food and Fibre Centre of Excellence

Our Food and Fibre Centre of Excellence located at the Charleston Road campus, officially opened in April 2018.

Delivering nationally accredited courses in animal studies, laboratory sciences and the primary industry sector in agriculture, horticulture, conservation and land management. Our courses are delivered through a variety of real-life based activities in state-of-the-art simulated work environments that prepares you with real-world job skills. 

Our programs are designed to meet the needs of industry focusing on a wide range of skills and knowledge in the animal welfare sector as well as the topics needed to build a viable, sustainable and environmentally responsible agriculture sector. This includes skills and knowledge around:

  • Machinery operation
