The student support services team
Bendigo TAFE student support services provides free and confidential services to students across all campuses and aims to facilitate a positive learning environment for students.
Services provided include counselling support services, disability support services, student activities services, youth workers, Indigenous support services and international support services.
Counsellor – Paul
Our Counsellor is available to provide general counselling across a range of areas including:
- individual, relationship, family and parenting counselling
- counselling and strategies to deal with stress, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic, phobias and other anxieties
- treatment for substance abuse and addictions
- vocational guidance – time management, assistance with deferral/extension and study tips
- grief and loss.
Disability Liaison Coordinator - Shaun
Our Disability Liaison Coordinator can assist by providing support for students with particular needs including:
- in class support
- assistance with literacy and numeracy
- study survival skills
The Disability Liaison Coordinator also provides access and advocacy advice, adaptive technology and equipment, as well as external resourcing services.
Youth Worker - Amy
Our Youth Worker is available to provide information, support and referral to young people who may be experiencing wide range of issues, including (but not limited to):
- mental and physical health
- relationships and family
- alcohol and other drugs
- sexuality and sexual health
- accommodation and housing
- finances and centrelink
- legal issues.
Careers and Welfare Counsellor - Ben
Our Careers and Welfare Counsellor provides vocational careers advice for people looking to further their education and skills. He provides career and pathway options for those wishing to enrol at Bendigo TAFE, including advice on how to achieve desired outcomes.
Our service also includes:
- confidence building
- seeking financial assistance
- assistance with workload management
- resume preparation and cover letters
- interview techniques
- job suitability.

Being a student can be a challenging time and many students do not access support services for a range of reasons including time pressures, not knowing where to go for help and feeling embarrassed.
Providing resources online means that more people will be able to get help to improve their wellbeing and be able to study more effectively. thedesk offers free access to online modules, tools, quizzes and advice through a registered login.

Learning support staff can also help with exam techniques, business communication, study skills and time management. Available at the City Campus Library Mondays - Wednesdays - Fridays between 10.00am and 2.00pm and it's free.
