Policy Statement

Bendigo TAFE is committed to operating efficiently and effectively in order to meet the needs of clients and stakeholders, especially students. Continuous improvement in all activities is vital for the Institute’s continued success.

The Institute undertakes ongoing quality control and evaluation of all its operations to ensure maintenance of standards appropriate to the expectations of the community, including examining and licensing authorities where relevant.

Bendigo TAFE has adopted AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems and the VET Quality Framework as the Institute’s Quality Assurance Standard in order to provide a structured framework for the Institute’s daily operations and continuously improve its processes and practices. The Institute’s quality system also incorporates OH&S and other external requirements.

Application of the Policy is through the following:

  • Bendigo TAFE Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions and Forms.
  • By investing in the maintenance of Bendigo TAFE’s quality system including the Business Management System, ISO Certification, and Internal Auditing.
  • The Institute adheres to all relevant external standards imposed by government agencies and regulatory authorities including VET Quality Framework, ESOS & OH&S.

The Institute’s quality system is based on adherence to the following principles:

  • a commitment by all staff to continuous improvement of processes, courses, products and services
  • input and involvement of staff and students in identifying and implementing quality improvements
  • systemic use of qualitative and quantitative feedback as the basis for identifying and prioritising improvement opportunities.

Definitions

AS/NZS  - Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard
Business Management System (BMS)  -  is an electronic searchable database of Bendigo TAFE’s endorsed policies and procedures as well as guidelines and documents which are required to be centrally controlled

ESOS - Education Standards for Overseas Students
ISO  -  the International Organisation for Standardisation
Customer Feedback Procedure  -  is a system, which monitors positive feedback, complaints and suggestions for improvement from clients, stakeholders, students and staff.

VET Quality Framework - The VET Quality Framework is aimed at achieving greater national consistency in the way providers are registered and monitored and in how standards in the VET sector are enforced.  The VET Quality Framework comprises: the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations, the Fit and Proper Person Requirements, the Financial Viability Risk Assessment Requirements, the Data Provision Requirements, and the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Roles/Responsibility

This policy applies to all staff and services of Bendigo TAFE. The Institute’s approach to quality encompasses all its operations including governance, academic services, student services, financial operations, facilities, human resources and occupational health and safety.
