Policy Statement
Bendigo TAFE recognises that passive smoking is hazardous to health and that non-smokers should be protected from involuntary inhalation of tobacco smoke. The objective of this policy is to reduce the exposure of all staff and students to passive smoke while they are on Bendigo TAFE owned or controlled premises.
Smoking is not permitted in buildings and within 5 metres of the vicinity of campus entrances / exits, building entrances/exits, windows or air intakes to buildings.
Smokers have the responsibility to dispose of smoking material, packaging and butts in appropriate refuse containers.
New staff, students, contractors and other users will be informed of the policy.
Employment information will state that Bendigo TAFE is a “smoke-free” work environment.
Contracts let for work at Bendigo TAFE will contain the text “Smoking is not permitted on any Bendigo TAFE campus, in any Bendigo TAFE owned or controlled buildings or vehicles.
When outside organisations have functions on Bendigo TAFE premises, they will be advised of the Smoke-Free policy and requested to comply.
