Policy Statement
This policy is framed to communicate the intent of the Institute in relation to its approach regarding refunding of fees paid, and re-crediting of VET FEE-HELP balances and applies to all students who are or would be entitled to VET FEE-HELP assistance under clause 43 of Schedule 1A of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA).
Definitions
HESA: Higher Education Support Act (2003)
VET FEE-HELP: an income contingent loan to eligible full fee-paying students to pay for all or part of their tuition fees
for units of study undertaken with an approved VET provider under HESA.
Roles/Responsibility
The Manager, Student Administration is responsible for this policy.
Students who withdraw from their unit of study or course of study on or before the census date will not incur a VET FEE-HELP debt, any fees that have been paid by the student will be refunded in full.
Students who withdraw or do not complete their unit of study or course of study after the census date may apply to the Manager, Student Administration to have their VET FEE-HELP balance re-credited (and thus their VET FEE-HELP debt remitted) in special circumstances. The student has 12 months from the withdrawal date to apply in writing for a re-credit of a FEE-HELP balance.
