We value your feedback as it helps us know what we are doing well, what we need to improve or to address a specific concern. We will try to address any feedback promptly and fairly. Privacy Collection Notice 

Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains how we collect, use and manage your personal information when you submit a complaint or feedback. 

What information do we collect?

When you lodge a complaint or provide feedback, we may collect personal information such as your name, contact details, and details about the issue you are raising. Depending on the nature of the complaint, this may include sensitive information (for example, health information or information about alleged conduct). 

Why do we collect this information?

We collect this information for the primary purpose of: 

  • assessing, managing and responding to your complaint or feedback; 
  • communicating with you about the complaint, including providing outcomes; 
  • investigating issues raised, including obtaining relevant information from staff, students or third parties where necessary; and 
  • meeting our legal, regulatory, and accountability obligations. 

Who may we share your information with?

Your information may be shared on a need‑to‑know basis with: 

  • relevant BKI staff involved in managing or investigating the complaint; 
  • external parties where required or authorised by law (for example, regulators, oversight bodies, or law enforcement); and 
  • third parties engaged to assist with investigation or review, where appropriate. 

We take reasonable steps to limit disclosure to what is necessary to address the complaint. 

What happens if you do not provide this information?

If you choose not to provide certain information, BKI may be limited in its ability to assess or respond to your complaint. 

Access and correction

You have the right to request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
