Apprenticeships Victoria
Apprenticeships Victoria (AV) is a government branch dedicated to increasing participation, engagement and completion of high-quality and safe apprenticeships and traineeships. Their aim is to provide a service to employers, apprentices, trainees and parents and guardians to strengthen apprenticeship and traineeship outcomes with a range of programs including:
Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (ACAP)
ACAP providers are funded and contracted by the Australian Government to provide support services to employers, apprentices, trainees and for the administration and registration of Training Contracts. An ACAP can also help you to administer incentives for apprenticeship opportunities through the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive Program.

Group Training Organisations
Group Training Organisations (GTO) provide a simple, low-risk solution to hiring and managing apprentices and trainees. If your business is unable to provide the resources and time to help the apprentice or trainee complete their full ‘on-the-job' training, then consider using a Group Training Organisation (GTO).
GTO’s place apprentices and trainees with the host employers which can help enhance their training experience. It can also ensure apprentices and trainees receive the full set of experiences needed to meet their required competencies.

Fair Work
The Fair Work Commission is Australia’s workplace tribunal, setting wages, approving agreements, resolving disputes, and regulating employment conditions.
Apprentices and trainees must have a National Training Contract, which outlines the relevant Modern Award and ensures pay rates and conditions. They are also guaranteed minimum entitlements under the National Employment Standards.
The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is Australia’s workplace regulator, offering advice, education, and enforcing workplace laws. For apprentices and trainees, the FWO explains rights and obligations, provides guidance on training contracts, investigates complaints, helps resolve workplace issues, and offers resources like pay calculators. It’s usually the first contact for workplace concerns.
