Life After Year 12: Your Future Starts at Bendigo TAFE

Finished Year 12? Whether you get the ATAR you hoped for or your results aren't quite what you expected, your future is full of possibilities. And you don't have to leave Bendigo to find them.

After years of assignments, exams, study sessions and early mornings, you've finally reached the end of Year 12. Congratulations!

Now comes the next big question: What's next?

Maybe you've had your heart set on university for years. Maybe you're ready to get out into the workforce and start earning. Or perhaps you're still figuring out what you want to do.

Whatever your plans, and whatever your Year 12 results, there's more than one way to build a successful career.

At Bendigo TAFE, we're here to help you take that next step, with hands-on training, industry-experienced teachers, modern facilities and pathways to employment and university.

And the best part? You can start building your future right here in your own community.

Your ATAR is a number, not your future

Waiting for your ATAR can feel like a lot of pressure. You've worked hard, you've got expectations, and everyone seems to be asking what you're going to do next.

But here's something worth remembering: your ATAR doesn't determine what you're capable of achieving.

If you get the results you were hoping for, that's fantastic! You have some exciting decisions ahead.

If your results aren't what you expected, that's okay too. Your career ambitions don't have to change just because your ATAR did.

And if university was never really your plan? That's absolutely fine.

At Bendigo TAFE, you don't need an ATAR to start a TAFE course. We offer a range of qualifications and study pathways that can help you develop practical skills, explore your interests and work towards the career you want.

Some courses have their own entry requirements, but your ATAR doesn't have to be the thing that holds you back.

Your future is bigger than one result.

Not sure what to study? You've got plenty of options.

You don't need to have your entire career mapped out at 18.

Maybe you know exactly what you're passionate about. Maybe you've got a few ideas. Or maybe you're looking for something completely different from what you've studied at school.

At Bendigo TAFE, there's a wide range of courses to help you explore your options and discover where your interests could take you.

University is still an option – and TAFE could help you get there

Think choosing TAFE means giving up on university? Think again.

Studying at Bendigo TAFE can be a smart first step towards a university degree.

Through our established university pathways, you may be able to complete a TAFE qualification and then continue your education at university.

Bendigo TAFE has pathway arrangements with universities including La Trobe University, Deakin University and Victoria University.

Depending on the course and pathway, you may be able to:

  • Gain entry into an eligible university degree after successfully completing your TAFE qualification.
  • Receive credit towards your degree, potentially reducing the amount of study you need to complete.
  • Develop practical, industry-relevant skills before moving into university.
  • Build confidence in a supportive learning environment while working towards your longer-term goals.
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification that may help you enter the workforce before continuing your studies.

For example, eligible graduates of Bendigo TAFE's Diploma of Nursing can access a pathway into nursing studies at La Trobe University, with credit available under the relevant pathway arrangements.

So even if you don't receive the ATAR you need for your preferred university course, it doesn't necessarily mean that dream is out of reach.

And if you already have a university offer? It's still worth exploring whether a TAFE pathway might be the right fit for your learning style and career goals.

University pathway entry and credit arrangements depend on the qualification, university and current eligibility requirements.
